Society and social behaviour

The world we see everyday is not divided into good people and bad people. Everybody has his/her own values. It is up to each one of us to choose our path to life. Society today is much different to the one our grandparents knew. trends keep changing every few years. These changes in society are due to changes in attitudes of people towards various things. Our social life today has become a competitive struggle for wealth and power. People are too preoccupied with their own activities in order to achieve what only they want. They spend little or no times to sit back, relax and appreciate the world around them. This attitude makes them develop a harmful selfish personality.

This rat race for power has made leisure entirely non-existent. But in the midst of this, there still are those who go out of their way to make life meaningful to others. They are the ones who build the world, brick by brick with no heed to others. They are the ones who should be kept at the higher positions of society.

But again, people make mistakes. Instead of appreciating those with a good heart, they simply tend to ignore them because they don't like looking up to people who sacrifice their own time to help nameless people. In other words, they are too arrogant to praise them for what they do to the betterment of society.

Acceptable social behaviour today has become questionable. People have varying opinions on this subject. Yet most of us have our social behaviour connected with the society we live in. We dress how our society expects us to. We be behave at social gathering in a socially acceptable manner. But again some people do not understand what acceptable social behaviour is. They frown at it. They believe that they are the only ones who think and do the right thing. So naturally, they tend to look down and ignore ethical social behaviour.

Ultimately, the key to making this world is a long preached act: kindness. We have to let go of our egoistic habits and the unnecessary pride we have of ourselves. We need to appreciate the good values we find in others. When this happens on a global scale inter-personally, peace will rule the world. Society will become a standard place to live in and social behaviour will be accepted by all. How to start? Take a few minutes off your busy schedule and appreciate the world around you, the people around you. Go out of your way to help them. Then, and only then will there be purpose for the existence of society.
