Pol Sambol and life

Pol Sambol is a Sri Lankan dish made with scraped coconut, salt, chilli flakes, red chilli powder and lime. This dish is a lot like our lives. It has a slight sweetness from the coconut, saltiness, a bit of tanginess and also a bit of spice in it. This dish has to be at the perfect balance for one to enjoy it. Our lives too are filled with many things... Happiness, sadness, anger, betrayal, love and many more. Yet how do we find out balance like pol sambola for a qualitative life? A happy life?

It all comes down to one thing. I quote, "Doing the things you love will always make you content." according to my favourite teacher. Having a content life is what we should all strive for. Sure, we all have ambitions but don't let it make you selfish and corrupt. Let it lead you to be content with whatever the result you get. Just like pol sambol. If it's too spicy, for sure you will get an upset stomach. It's like greed. You're bound to get negative results.

So life and pol sambol have a lot in common. The only way to make it taste better is to have its ingredients i.e. our thoughts and emotions to be in perfect balance.
