Welcome to the writers' club of Galle Road Blogs! Let us walk you through the writing process of this blog.

We are Sri Lankans and thus the blog's name, but don't let that fool you. Each of us are committed writers and we love what we do. Our goal is to inspire all types of audiences by writing content they look for and motivate young writers to pen their heart's desires. We're glad that you're here to help us.

So how do you become a writer for Galle Road Blogs? 

It's simple.

Step One: Pick a genre

We encourage writing of all kinds and therefore we have categorized genres out of which you can pick one to base your work on. There are nine such genres and they are as follows:

• SHORT FICTION/ NON-FICTION - Prepare to let your imaginations run wild. You can come up with any kind of stories, biographies, etc you'd love to tell people. It can be based on a real incident or you can create a setting of your own. You have complete creative control!

• POEM AND LITERATURE - This genre is for the artists. Bring out the Shakespeare and Blake in you and set your pens on fire. You can write poems, sonnets, plays, screenplays and such under this genre.

• SCIENCE & TECH - Do you ponder over your existence on Earth? Or are you a tech geek? This is the place for you! You can write science articles, essays, sci-fi stories, experiment reports, thought experiments, theories, brand reviews, product reviews, recommendations, how-tos, etc. It's your opportunity to contribute to science!

• POPULAR CULTURE - Memes are love, memes are life. Bring to light the latest news storming the internet and share your thoughts about it. It can be celebrity gossip, meme reviews, movie reviews, tv show reviews, song reviews or about anything you want to rant. 

• CREEPYHOPPERS - Spook your readers by posting your worst nightmares. This is where you write about your most terrorizing experiences, situations where you've felt the paranormal. It can be real or fictional. Bring out the Stephen King or R. L. Stine in you!

• EARTH AND PEOPLE - It's time to bring proper awareness to those ignorant of the danger we as humans pose to Earth. Take out your pens and write for and about Earth, about it's beauty, it's explored and unexplored regions, the diverse life it contains, about over-population, conservation, deforestation, climate change and global warming, terrorism. When it comes to Earth, there are countless topics you can write on. 

• RANDOM THOUGHTS - Remember those day-dreams you used to have when you sit on the potty contemplating on the meaning of life? And those sudden realizations that come out of nowhere? Your shower-thoughts? Those existential crises? Here's where you let the world know of your discoveries and ideas that you usually keep hidden from others. Nothing is ever a lame idea.

• PURELY LANKAN - It's a beautiful place isn't it? Share with the community your best experiences about Sri Lanka. Since this page is exclusively dedicated to the country we're based on you can write about absolutely anything Sri Lankan. Politics, food, people, music, cricket, places, beaches, the list is endless!

• FOOD - Are you a food enthusiast? Then this genre is for you! Let us know the most delicious dish you've ever tasted, write reviews for food you've tried, exciting new recipes, review restaurants, hotels, coffee shops and fast food chains and don't forget to share with us pictures of all the food you've tried!

Step Two: Start writing

Writing is the most exciting part of the process because that's when ideas come rushing through. Unleash your imagination and be as creative as you can. Creativity is at the core of this website. You don't have to write/type pages and pages; even a paragraph will suffice, depending on the genre you choose. You can write wherever, whenever you want and watch it turning slowly into a hobby. Also remember we accept submissions in any language! Try out all the genres and you will find out how good a writer you can be. And don't forget to add a catchy title to your work. A title is what captures the audience first. But remember, do not plagiarize. Do not copy the works of others and call it your own. Although more can have the same ideas, copyright infringement is a serious offense. And we take it seriously as well.

Step Three: Send us your work

Here's the easiest part! Once you're done writing, come back here and push that blue button at the top of the page. That'll redirect you to an email address (If that option doesn't seem to be working on your browser, please send it to galleroadblogs@gmail.com) Attach your work (preferably as a word document), include a picture if you want (if you do please remember to cite the image source unless it's organic) and don't forget to include your name as well (if you don't want to reveal your name you'll have to come up with a super-secret code name). You can also send a link to one of your online accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc) so people can follow you. Once we're done proof-reading your work we'll publish it for you as soon as possible and you'll see how immensely satisfied you'll be when you see your work displayed as a blog post on this website. All you have to do is share it with your friends or colleagues and let them know what the writer in you is capable of.
